Reaching Primary Six - Boon Lay School
Boon Lay Primary School is situated approximately 12 miles from the milestone. Adjacent to the main road, you'll find a bustling wet market along with a convenient bus stop.
The stretch between Boon Lay Primary School and my former residence in Old Jurong encompasses a spacious field adorned with towering broadcasting antennas. On occasion, when the school bus eludes us, we undertake a leisurely 30-minute stroll along the charming two-lane road.
Upon entering the single-story school compound, the central entrance to the school building beckons. To the right stands the principal's office, while on the left, a captivating large fish aquarium captures the attention of passersby.
The school boasts an H-shaped layout, featuring a connected toilet building utilizing a bucket system and an adjoining school canteen. Adjacent to the H-building, a vast grassy field plays host to spirited sports days.
This expansive field is also a playground for a popular game—marbles. Students enthusiastically bring their marbles to engage in friendly matches, attempting to outmaneuver each other. Occasionally, a daring student introduces a six-inch homemade marble, aiming to shatter the smaller marbles into pieces. Among my cherished marbles is a well-crafted, smooth half-inch light brown marble that served me faithfully until it succumbed to the assault of larger counterparts.
