1965 - Chickenpox

When I was six years old, I began to have red rashes on my front and back body.

It began to expand over all my body and started to itch.

My mum brought me to an old lady's home.

This old lady looked at my body and said it is "Snake" symptoms.

She took a wick and lighted it with a match.

With the flaming wick on one hand, she look around my body and finally slam the burning wick on to my body.

She proclaimed that she has hit the snake head and killed the snake.

She gave my mum a can of salted brown cabbage which will be my lunch and dinner for next few days with rice.

It works and I did not even see a western doctor.

It is said that:
Shingles is sometimes termed 'snake' infection in the Chinese community with the myth that patients would die if the snake meets its own tail, forming an entire ring around the body, squeezing and suffocating the patient. Hence the treatment prescribed by Chinese folklore is to burn the head of the snake.
