I finally landed a part-time office job as a Printing Plate Designer at a commercial forms printing company.
They specialize in producing business documents such as invoices, receipts, and notices, which are printed into booklets using roller printing machines.
My responsibilities included designing printing plates, laying out forms, selecting typefaces, creating artwork, developing negatives in a darkroom, and producing the final plates used for printing.
Because of the size of the roller and the thickness of the plates, a 12-inch form requires a 13-inch plate to accommodate the roller’s larger circumference.
This process demands high precision and a strong attention to detail.
It became one of my longest-running part-time jobs, as the company valued and needed talents like mine.
