As I started noticing more white hairs, I thought of trying a hair dye to see if I might look more youthful and, perhaps, a little more handsome.

I bought a hair dye online and decided to give it a try.

(Warning message — which I failed to read before applying the product)

Day 1 – Before Application
I applied the black hair shampoo as instructed.

Day 1 – One Hour Later
The results were immediate. My hair turned a rich black, looking fresh and shiny. I was pleased with the outcome.

Day 2 – Allergic Reaction
The next day, things took a turn. My skin reacted badly to the hair dye.

Hives broke out across my scalp—on the left, right, top, and back of my head. The itching was intense, and it took great restraint not to scratch.

Unfortunately, during the night, I must have scratched the right side of my face. It felt relieving at the moment, but it made things worse. The pimples broke open and began to ooze pus.

I quickly went to see a doctor and was prescribed the following medications:

  1. Telfast 180mg – once daily (antihistamine)
  2. Xepasone 5mg – four tablets once in the morning
  3. Chlorpheniramine 4mg – one tablet before sleep (antihistamine with drowsiness)
  4. Gentriderm cream – applied to affected areas to prevent infection

My cheeks became swollen on both sides, pushing my eyes slightly inward and affecting my vision.

Day 3
The swelling began to subside, and the itching reduced.

Day 4
Further improvement—less itching, though some pimples and swelling remained.

Conclusion

  1. Always read the instructions and warnings before applying any chemical product to your hair or skin.
  2. Be cautious when using unfamiliar hair dyes, especially “black hair shampoos.”
  3. Recognize the signs of an allergic reaction: hives, pimples, redness, swelling (especially around the face), and intense itching.
